All the shops are shut and so I can't use this time in the netcafe for the korean study i'd planned [well i can but only committing stuff to memory right here in the shop... nothing to write shit down on]

Anyway, you might be amused to know that yesterday i spent so much money in this place that on the way out, the cashier guy's face went :o! and then he yanked a free drink out of the machine and thrust it at me like :o! i'm not sure whether he was apologetic about me spending all the money, worried because he knew i hadn't shifted my butt during the seven hours i'd been there to get a drink, or just trying to win his way into my good books [which tbph he already has 'cause he's lovely]. It's a grape juice stuff that I don't really like but I've kept on buying it because it's so far the only thing that I've found to drink here that I do semi like outside of soda... and it tastes alright diluted with coke. I need to go to a big store again and see what i can pick up.

So I went home, bought a cup noodle thing on the way - I found one of those tiny kiddy portion sized ones and I figured I'd give it a try, and bought four apples. 5000 won for four apples. That's about 2.70 UK pounds and 4.87 US dollars. But they're huuuuge and sweet. I could only eat like, 1/4 of one in one sitting, so yummy like woah. I tried heating up said noodles with hot tap water again but it obviously wasn't hot enough this time, so i had to wait about 30 mins for the noodles to soften enough to even break out of the little solid cluster they're packed in XD after that i just kinda gave up and gobbled them down semi crunchy 'cause man I was hungry. It was nice stuff. Chajang ...er. Bulbok, i think. Oh and the festival word for thanksgiving i said was chusol or whatever yesterday, aint. It's Cheusok. I read up a bit on it in the tourist guide today while I was trying to drum more numbers into my head.

Currently debating the wisdom of buying a cooler box thing that people take on picnics instead of a fridge... depends how much money it is... and i really want to find a bike shop so i can explore around properly. i took a walk today, but progres was arrested when i hit the like, 4096846984 lanes-a-side "dual" carriageway at the very bottom of the mountain. I think tomorrow maybe I'll head upwards and see if I can hit the mountain itself 'cause it looks beautiful like woah from where I am.

Random, 'cause elena mentioned nuts just here now - on Friday night when Mac was teaching me how to count [heh] he used roasted peanuts he swiped from a street vendor as we walked past, feeding me them whenever I got the number right. I don't like peanuts!.... but I liked these, apparently.

So far, I've hit korea. Drunk coffee. Drunk tea. Eaten peanuts. Eaten squid. All of which I hate, but apparently not in korea... maybe it's just that I'm too polite to refuse this stuff in Korea and thus I'm actually trying it again...

I'm gradually falling into a really lazy routine. I wake up around 7. I get up. I shower. I dress. I wonder about exploring outside. I have a few :| moments about being self conscious. I put off going outside by finding it necessary - which to be honest, it usually is - to clean the floors. I am determined to get all of the ground in dirt out of the genkan entry - it seems most families here that I've seen don't bother cleaning that because it's where all the shoes go and so it gets dirty yaddayadda. I refuse to let that happen so I clean it along with all the rest of the floors. It will gleam I tell you. Gleam. So yeah, I pretend to study for a while - well, actually study but by now it's about 12 noon and the sun's hitting, so it ends up being "read over the numbers and phrases a few times" before dropping the book and snoozing for a couple of hours like a cat caught in a sunbeam. Zzzzzz. [This is mainly because there were two women up all freakin' night clattering around in the room next door to mine.. they were shouting, throwing things down the stairs to the pavement outside, carting stuff around. Seriously I was like O.o;;; but we all know what I'm like with things that go bump! in the night so I just squidged down in bed a little further and pretended I was somewhere else until it stopped around 6am] I wake up with a jump that clears me a foot from the bed with something hammering against my door, and with my heart responding by hammering in the back of my throat I push open the front door like O.O!!!.... nothing there. Mk.

So I try and go back to bed. Fail. Clean the floors again, forgetting I'd already done it today. Three pm. Decide I've been a hermit long enough and the day is beautiful so I'd better get my white girl ass out the door before it glues itself to the ceiling in protest. So white girl ass out the door, I do the whole lazy saunter around the nearby streets - no Chris, there really ARE no street names. All I know is that I live in apt 101 in some building up some hill amongst lots of other big huge ass apt blocks that's quite near the main road into the city - until I hit the carriageway I mentioned earlier - originally i'd hoped to come out and get some paper and pens to ravage the internet for proper language studies that I could get my teeth into, but... nope. Shut today. So I turn to head back home and... oops! fell into the net cafe. The usual guy isn't here :( but the replacement is still very nice and brings me to a seat and we do the whole coffee business. I remember enough to say "no thx" to coffee today and instead get a cup of water. I have a feeling I may start funding their weekly bills.

I'm sat here with headphones on and no music. I'm so hardcore.
