Well. I learned a lesson yesterday. iI chained my bike up outside the school for the day, and yet again we didn't finish until 8-8:30pm. I went out - someone had obviously tried to steal it - couldn't, so stole the lights from it and let down my tyres instead. So Lily took me home, and arranged to pick me up at 7:30am this morning - she didn't turn up [for a GOOD REASON though - someone had a car accident RIGHT outside her apartment block - the carpark entrance!! - and she couldn't get her car out. She was massively late] and she called the school, who called mrs lee, who sent her husband to pick me up and cart me into work XD so they came and picked the bike up from school this morning [we left it here last night inside] and it's gone away to be fixed. The good thing is that now I have permission to keep it inside the school during the day, so I'll tuck it in a darkened corner. The bad thing there is that there's nothing to chain it too - but I think it'll be bloody obvious if some kid tries to cart a bike THAT size out, so ...we'll see how it goes. I'll be mobile again by tomorrow I believe. Korea - 1, Me - 0.
I'd planned to go to a bread or pastry shop on the way home to get something to nibble on for dinner, but because I got taken home, I called in at one of the convenience stores and picked up two bottles of vita500 [which is chartreuse green, folks. I poured some in a glass last night. I took pictures of it XD it's such a vile, yet lovely colour], a small carton of milk [which turned out to be JUST enough for one bowl of cereal. Perfect.] and a pack of 6 tiny little cakes with egg custard inside. [That turned out to be a bad idea because between 10pm and 7am this morning I ate all six >>]. I didn't go to the pc bang last night, even after I thought OMG MY BIKE I MUST LJ!!!!!!!!!!!11, I was exercising my willpower. I got in around 9:15, showered, planned the lesson for this morning, and ...well. Died in bed at about 10:30. Literally died. I don't even remember my head hitting the pillow, yo. This morning I had a bunch of advanced students - most of them have lived outside of Korea for a while in the US or somewhere. So it was high level grammar and fluent writing for them. Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous tenses. [I dunno bout you, but for me that's one of the most confusing things in English, 'cause often you can use both in interchangeable situations]. They were really, really good students though. Soaked up EVERY word, all of them contributed, I didn't need to jerk any up for not listening or anything. It was fantastic. Matt, he's just come back from living in the US for two years, he's only been back a month, so his English is pretty damned good [lived in New York]. They'd had homework from the day before to write 5 sentences about an alien - describe. So I asked for volunteers ...none. I said ..Matt? you go first? He said naw, ladies first. I looked at the girls. They gave me a look that said e_E men. So I looked back at Matt and said my, Matt, that's a lovely dress you're wearing today!!!. He said "....... -_- my alien---- etc." Me - 1, Matt - 0. I'm going to use that class as a buffer against the onslaught of classes I have this afternoon - eight - a good three of which I've been warned are "crazy students +_+" and "they don't understand any english at all..." which should be interesting. I have a liiiiiiist of korean class phrases I've been memorising the last few days though, so if necessary I can bang out a couple. I might dedicate a portion of the lesson to class commants, actually >___> English Grammar = -1, because they all swamped it up, and then I went through it with one of the other teachers, too. So that's two points to me. Bring it on >/ ugh. this means i have to get a ride home with mrs lee or someone tonight _o_... i'd hoped those days were over. oh well |
